I did something funny to my compression settings, so comms might sound funny.
This was pre-buff wall shield. The build is TRASH so don't even bother. Either way, I think this duo shows how sloppy my gameplay has gotten, since I'm playing way less Darktide. C'est la vie.
Wall shield is Psyker's most interesting ability. No other ability can compare to its uniquely reactive capacity to stop a dog pounce, shut a Reaper down when he gets too close, or to pump Brain Burst's charge time in the face of a Monstrosity or pack of Elites. Any smart developer would encourage and reward gameplay that leans into that aspect of the shield.
Fatshark is not a smart developer.
They swapped the wall shield nodes, so now you can ignore the electrocution node to save a point. Undoubtedly they did this so you can spam ranged attacks from behind the flat shield more frequently than with the bubble shield, and for cheaper. It's a lame change. Now, if bubble shield had, say, a five-second duration, and kept the shorter forty-second cooldown, then it would be in a more interesting spot. Wall would become the more defensive variant, and bubble would be a more aggressive and reactive option.
Nobody I play with takes bubble because it trivializes gunners, and everyone else seems to think it's mandatory because gunners suck to deal with. If it had this shorter duration and cooldown, and gunners weren't horribly unfun to fight, maybe more top players would be motivated to use it, and the average player may be motivated to try a new build (and to stop crying "need bubble" in every lobby).
Either way, please don't run Crystalline Will. Even when you cheat to make it work, sometimes it just doesn't work for no reason. It's a meme, and anything else would be better.
