Animation in the 80s and 90s!
My brother and I were sure we could make our own cartoons if we just had the right equipment.
We never got the right equipment. There was too much equipment to get.
It was expensive (or difficult to build) and required a lot of physical space.
Not to mention, there was only one way to find out if you had any idea what you were doing - and that was to wait 2 weeks for film development.
Then you had to put it through one of those classic old film projectors (at night!) and then - if the animation looked ok - figure out how to cut and splice the good parts into something presentable.
Still, the idea of being succussful animators was just too romantic to resist.
We did it anyway.
Some of it came out OK. Lots of fun.
