Learn to Hack Day 4: Banner Grabbing with Netcat
Welcome to Day 4 of my ethical hacking shorts series. Today we are going to be manually fingerprinting services against a vulnerable server by using Netcat to connect to ports and read their service banners. This technique is known as "banner grabbing" and is useful for determining the version of a service running on a port when automated tools are not available.
