On April 7, 2022, a Boeing 757 that was in operation for a flight encountered a hydraulic failure and subsequently crashed during its landing at the airport in Costa Rica. The flight had initially departed from Juan Santamaría International Airport with the purpose of delivering cargo to La Aurora International Airport. However, while flying over the town of Mueller San Carlos in Costa Rica, the airplane experienced hydraulic issues, prompting the crew to declare an emergency and choose to return to the airport. Upon touching down on the runway, the aircraft skidded and its landing gear collapsed. Subsequently, it veered more than 90 degrees to the right on taxiway Kilo, ultimately crashing into a ditch in front of the fire station at the Costa Rica airport and breaking apart. Thankfully, neither of the pilots sustained physical injuries.
