Medicinal herbs and Honey bee farming
This documentary describes assistance provided by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to flood-affected collectors of medicinal plants and bee-keepers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
In February-June 2011, USAID, through its Entrepreneurs Project, helped restore livelihoods for 13,000 of plant collectors and bee-keepers. The project provided tool kits to 10,000 flood-affected plant collectors from Upper Dir and Swat and distributed hives, bees and bee-keeping accessories to 3,000 bee-keepers from Swat District. The project collaborated closely with PaRRSA during the program design, beneficiary selection criteria, selection of partners, and implementation of the post-flood livelihoods initiative. Through 2014, USAID's Entrepreneurs Project will work with 26,000 bee-keepers and plant collectors to improve their yields and incomes.
