Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic 2017 Review | Driver's Seat
Land Rover has launched a swathe of new technology and engines for the 2017 Range Rover, including an SVAutobiography Dynamic, which will become the most powerful Rand Rover to date.
The SVAutobiography Dynamic has a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine under the bonnet which develops a mighty 542bhp and 502ft/lbs of torque, meaning the huge SUV gets from standstill to 60mph in a lighting 5.1seconds and will push on to 140mph.
The engine’s linked to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox whch is operated by the rotary shift controller and steering wheel mounted paddles.
To keep all this power in check and improve handling, the suspension has been lowered by 8mm, with tweaks to the dampers, springs, links and knuckles.
The introduction of Dynamic Response should keep the body tauter and improve handling and high-speed stability, while Adaptive Dampers react quicker to iron out road surface imperfections.
There are subtle changes so you can tell the SVAutobiography Dynamic apart. The grille, side vents, model name and parts of the front bumper and tailgate are all finished in Graphite Atlas, a dark grey colour. There are new 21in alloys and red brake callipers, although 22in alloys are available as an option.
The interior is treated to diamond quilted leather seats with contrasting stitching, black veneer facia inserts and a red leather finish for the doors and dashboard.
Land Rover has introduced a swathe of new technologies across the Range Rover collection including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, Advanced Tow Assist, Low Traction Launch and InControl Touch Pro for the infotainment system.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems includes autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, rear park distance control and cruise control with speed limiter.
The emergency braking system uses a forward facing camera to detect a potential collision before automatically applying the brakes if the driver has failed to do so.
Advanced tow assist uses the cars surround cameras to assist when reversing with a trailer attached, adding useful of guidelines to follow. It’s also capable of automatically steering the car to a pre-selected route.
Low traction launch is designed to aid pullaway on slippery surfaces such as snow, ice or wet grass.
The infotainment system now gets InControl Touch Pro, which uses a new 10in dual view touchscreen display, while a navigation map can be sent to the instrument binnacle. Additional features include remote functions to control the climate control, alarm and even start the engine.
A new commute mode learns the routes that you take most regularly and can recommend the best route to avoid current traffic delays and can also share your eta with whomever you choose, through your smartphone.
