Yasunori Mitsuda - Chrono Trigger - Schala's Theme
For the past several months, I've been really missing playing wind instruments. I don't really play trumpet much anymore as the upkeep on my embouchure requires a lot more work than I have time for, and with both my wife and I working from home full time now, I don't think she would appreciate me practicing it at annoying loud volumes across the hall from her office. I spent some time looking around and found that the recorder might be a viable option for something fun to play around with that wouldn't break the bank, and could actually sound pretty good despite their reputation as grade school instruments. So I bought one that I heard was decent and started to learn, and it's been really really nice. There's something about playing an instrument with your actual breath that feels really satisfying and natural in a way that string instruments don't really satisfy.
So, I threw together this arrangement of Schala's Theme as a little experiment, because it's never the wrong time for music from Chrono Trigger. I hope you enjoy it!
