The Carnival was created by the Catholic church originally as "Mardi Graz", or whatever the name may have been when it started in New Orleans. The main attraction was the slave market selling slaves, wentches, and boys and girls from brothels.
The carnival today everywhere still has some of its main attractions such as Dwarfs, white face clowns, and sometimes even the "freak show"
Did you know Carnival in Latin, translates to "Farewell to the Flesh".
