• MOSFET as Switch Experiment using Proteus
The MOSFET acts as a switch, turning ON the LED when the gate voltage.
𝑉𝐼𝑁 exceeds the threshold.
The IRFZ44N does not turn ON at low gate voltages 𝑉𝐼𝑁 less than 2V.
The MOSFET starts turning ON at 3V - 4V but is not fully ON.
Full conduction happens at 𝑉𝐼𝑁=5𝑉−8𝑉, allowing maximum current to flow.
PROCEDURE:
Connections:
Connect the drain of IRFZ44N to the cathode of the LED.
Connect the anode of the LED to 𝑉𝐷𝐷=5𝑉
Connect a 330Ω resistor in series with the LED to limit current.
Connect the source of the MOSFET to GND.
Connect a 10kΩ resistor between gate and source.
Applying Voltage:
Start with 𝑉𝐼𝑁=0𝑉 and gradually increase it in steps of 0.1V up to 5V.
Observe the LED brightness.
Observations:
Record the voltage at which the LED starts glowing.
