What Used to be Ours: The Dying Farmer
Technology and other advancements in our current society have changed the lives of many, but people often forget about those that provide the food they eat. The American farmer we once knew has diminished across the country as shifts within the agricultural world have begun. Due to this, not only are farmers left struggling, but family farms are having to give up their deeply generational operations. Young generations have turned away from inheriting their family's legacy because of the financial burden current input costs demand. As I recognized this issue within my own region, I sought to discover the true story behind why this is occurring. This photo documentary is an accumulation of months of work that consists of the story I uncovered. What once provided breathtaking landscapes have now been left vacant, and family farms left behind in a new agricultural world dominated by technology and markets.
