Today, I found myself for the first time in the heart of the US capital – on the famous National Mall, the very avenue where all the symbols of America are located.
The White House, the Capitol, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials – all within a few minutes' walk of each other. This place is called an "open-air museum," and it truly is.
This mall is not just a park, but a true historical corridor, where parades, marches, and the most important events in American history pass. Dozens of films have been filmed here, and thousands of tourists and locals come here to get a sense of the capital's scale and see how ancient architecture coexists with the city's modern atmosphere.
I show you how to quickly and easily pay for public transportation in Washington, stroll through the center, share my first impressions, and – unexpectedly! – I see the US President's motorcade. All this is unscripted, as it is, through the eyes of someone just beginning to discover America.
