💫Sant Tulasi Das quotes this in Hanuman Chalisa :

|| Yuga Sahasra Yojana Para Bhaanu
Leelyo Taahi Madhur Phala Jaanu ||
.
.

.
.

These lines refers to Ramayana where the legend hanuman flies to sun thinking it as a fruit..

And the words Yuga Sahasra Yojana is what is refered to as the distance to Sun

Yuga means – 12,000 years
Sahasra in Sanskrit means – 1000
Yojana = 8 miles

When these 3 numbers are multiplied, we get ..
12,000 * 1000 * 8 = 96 Million and 1 Mile = 1.6 KMs, So its ~154 Million KMs.

We know by modern methods that average distance to sun is discovered as ~150 Million KMs which is pretty close to what we just calculated

Is the assumed calculation of Hanuman chalisa right? Lets figure out..

When we multiply – Yuga and Yojana with a factor of sahasra or 1000 we say the product is 96 Million Miles – wait a second, how can product of two different units – one in years and other one in miles give us only miles, shouldn’t it be years miles or miles years, well we don’t really have that unit.

So the direct multiplication of 12,000 years * 8 Miles – Fails

✨Manusmruti states that :

||Etad Dwaadasha Sahasram
||Devanam Yugamuchyate ||

Which means yuga refers to 12,000 divine years and not 12,000 human/solar years

And 1 divine year = 360 human/solar years

So the calculation turns out of to be (12000* 360 )1000 8 =4.32M*1000* 8
which is again not equal to ~150 Million KMs

Thus

|| Yuga sahasra yojana para bhaanu
Leelyo Taahi Madhur Phala Jaanu ||

Gets a meaning of..
Moving towards the sun, which is innumerable miles away with ease asyou thought it to be a sweet fruit..

With no significant numerical representation of distance between sun and earth
