There are three ways to show a fraction in a Google Document.
Type in single-digit fractions (1/2, 2/3, 3/4, etc) converts the text to display fairly nicely.
Typing in double-digit fractions 15/16, 23/32, etc, does not display any differently than normal text.
The third option is to Insert Equation and select math Operators and use the Fraction operator. Type in the upper & lower #s (numerator and denominator) will display a mathematical equation. Not bad, but it often does not display as well as the single-digit fractions do.
