Created in Orange County in 2014, Top Shelf Gaming is an online media company that seeks to bridge the gap between gamer and non-gamer as well as create a more inclusive video game community. The name comes from a scene in Wreck-It-Ralph where Ralph and Vanellope bump fists and exclaim, "Top shelf!" TSG has always prided itself in writing about video games academically and being, if not completely kid-friendly, tasteful with the more mature subject matter. TSG creator, Marcus Garrett, offers an internship program every semester for Chapman University students that teaches them the fundamentals of video game journalism. The team's first podcast Trust Sircle featured a diverse cast that tackled subjects from both a gamer and non-gamer perspective. Top Shelf Gaming began producing video content in the summer of 2017.
