Dubai is facing another bout of severe weather as torrential rain lashes the city, just weeks after it was inundated with historic flooding. The recent downpour has prompted authorities to issue an emergency public safety alert, urging residents to take precautions.
The deluge on April 14 and 15 marked the heaviest rainfall Dubai has experienced in over seven decades, leading to catastrophic flooding reminiscent of biblical proportions. In just 24 hours, the city was drenched with a year's worth of rain, overwhelming infrastructure ill-prepared for such an onslaught.
The impact was devastating, with an airport submerged, roads impassable, and homes and businesses inundated with water. The cleanup from this catastrophic event is estimated to cost Dubai up to $1 billion.
