Testing junk printers from outside at the junk store
Caution: long winded description for a boring video!
This is just an impromptu video I took at our local junk store before purchasing some items, specifically two large printers for an upcoming video or two I have been planning for a while.
I always enjoyed the "revival" and "resurrection" videos people like shango066 and Jennings Motor Sports put out, but I don't have the money for cars or the space for that many televisions, sadly.
I thought to myself, "What do I have the space for?" and of course, I always have more room for vintage computer equipment, and I've always found vintage printers very interesting. Don't see that many videos on YouTube either, and never in good quality. This started with that IBM ProPrinter I bought a while back, which came from the same junk store (though in the much cleaner, nicer section) and only needed a mild cleaning to work. This time, I figured I'd go further into the store and pick up a couple printers which had spent at least the better part of two decades (maybe more) essentially outside: In an open window, leaky roof barn connected to the building at the back. I had planned to get more, but many were missing pieces (NEC SpinWriter 8800) or I could not find ink for (Really wanted that IBM ExecJet II if anyone can find me a cartridge for it). It was a real shame, but I had to leave most of them behind for now. Maybe in the future I can go back and dig them out of their graves as well.
