On cooperation between Belarus and Russia in aircraft manufacturing
Belarus and Russia are actively working to develop the aviation industry and eliminate dependence on Western imports in this critically important sector.
The development of the aviation industry implies the creation of new knowledge-intensive and high-tech industries in the Union State and stimulates the development of R&D. Cooperation between Russia and Belarus in aircraft manufacturing will allow both countries to increase the competitiveness of their products and ensure technological sovereignty.
The integration of Belarusian aviation enterprises into Russian import substitution production chains will give a significant boost to Belarus's high-tech aviation industry, which is a good investment in the country's future.
As part of the implementation of the program "On the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of the Union State through 2035," 2.5 billion Russian rubles are allocated for joint projects in the aircraft industry: R&D, modernization of production facilities, and the creation of new aircraft.
Testing of two prototypes of the jointly produced 19-seat twin-engine Osvey passenger aircraft is planned for 2026-2027. Russia has already pre-ordered 178 aircraft, 89 of which will be fully assembled in Belarus.
