The way you use your eyes reveals something about you and how you engage with the world.
A new tool developed at the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience at NTNU reads your eyes rom MRI scans. It's called DeepMReye
Your eye movements can reveal your thoughts, your memories, your goals - and even brain diseases!
Almost every brain disease, like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease will affect your viewing behaviour. So why is eye-tracking not already a standard in research labs and hospital clinics?Because the available camera eye-tracking procedure has been expensive, tricky to use and way too time consuming.
The NTNU-Kavli-reseachers wanted to build a user-friendly eye tracker that reads your eyes directly from the MRI signal - with the aim of making eye tracking diagnostics a standard in brain imaging research and hospital clinics.
Hopefully, this will be plug-and-play for everybody!
DeepMReye is open-source, free, and available from github.com/DeepMReye/DeepMReye
DeepMReye is an innovation from the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience, by researchers Christian Doeller, Matthias Nau and Markus Frey
