The goal of the museum is preserve the history of the freshwater commercial fishing industry in Port Dover, Ontario. The steamer Atlantic sank in 1852 in lake Erie and this museum has many of the artifacts from the tragedy. There is also a collection of fishing tools. They also have the wheelhouse from a freshwater freighter ship and you can steer the wheel.
