I have been practicing art, portraits for 13 years now.
I have done more than 2000 portraits just for the sake of practice.
I am a big fan of freehand style, for those of you who do not know what freehand is,
freehand means drawing someone or something without the help of grid, by making measurements visually. It could be either from photo or from life. It does not matter.
For people who know how to construct a face the freehand style, their portrait study using grid will improve enormously.
SO this is a portrait study of Park Jimin, one of the main singers of the famous South Korean brand BTS.
I should say he has flawless and a very flat skin, which means it was difficult for me to read the values from the photo.
Most of the cameras have inbuilt softwares which reduce the values on any face or object be it , however I have been following this band for a while so I am quite familiar with his face. So I managed to pull it off. It took me 3 hours to finish this work. It was quite difficult for me and I should admit that because, it is freehand and it requires a lot of correction to bring it close to the character and as said since his skin was flawless it took me sometime to read all the values on his face and recreate it on paper.
