Cinematic Smartphone Video?: Dehancer Pro with Davinci Resolve
Looking for the secret sauce for turning boring footage (especially smartphone video) into something much more cinematic? Dehancer might be the answer!
In this Cinematic Smartphone Video with Dehancer Pro Davinci Resolve tutorial/review, I breakdown two shots and their grades with Dehancer Pro. The first shot uses the Beastgrip 1.55x anamorphic lens on the Samsung S23 FE with MotionCam Pro (to film in RAW). The second is from the S23 Ultra with Freewell's 1.55x anamorphic lens (gold flare version) using Filmic Pro.

A few notes:
I really enjoyed making this Dehancer tutorial with Davinci Resolve! Dehancer Pro is going to be the new tool I use for quick color grading--especially when adding halation. Also, the Filmic Pro vs MotionCam Pro battle continues to be won by MotionCam Pro (at least for these b-roll shots I'm getting). Filmic Pro has a lot going for it, but for tutorials like this, MotionCam DNG filming is just so forgiving when you get to color grading . . . as long as you have the space for the extremely large RAW video files.
The Freewell anamorphic lens and Beastgrip anamorphic lens really add a lot to these shots. I have a lot more testing to do with both (more videos to come), but the Freewell gold flare anamorphic flares up very easily (as you can see). The Beastgrip anamorphic is much more restrained, which definitely worked better for that neon sign shot. I have no problem recommending either, just make sure that you have a way to mount the lenses to your phone (S23 Ultra Freewell Case or a Beastcage for the Beastgrip anamorphic).
