Cosmic Conclusion (Acts I - III) | Cat Powered UFO Soundtrack
An Original Track for the video game: Cat Powered UFO.
My original idea for this was to write a symphony and have the individual pieces of music be the movements, but I did not write these using sonata allegro form. It just didn't feel right calling this a symphony when it lacked the structure of one. So, I decided to go with the term act. Like a symphony and its movements, I tried to write the acts with the same idea just not following that form. The first act is fast and melodic ideas are introduced that are used later. The second act is more lyrical with less action, I try not to use drums and percussion in full force to give a slower feel while still keeping the same tempo. Finally, the third act is in 6/8. With the third movement of a symphony usually being a dance with a meter of three beats, I wanted to change it up a little and make this section rock heavy and felt in a shuffle like beat.
The motif from the first act can be heard in the third, while I had plans to include the second act motif as well I ended up writing a section better and replacing the old version. Another important melody that is throw about very often is the Space Devil's theme. It is literally everywhere in this track and all throughout the game. Personally, throwing these motifs and melody lines all about really tie in the soundtrack and connect the pieces of music together to help reinforce the story.
