In this video, I discuss the topic, Does Nigeria have a population problem? Located in West Africa, Nigeria is the largest Black Nation in the world. One out of every four Africans and one out of every five persons of African origin is a Nigerian.
Currently, Nigeria is the 7th most populated country in the world. The World Population Prospects predicts that by 2050, Nigeria will become the third most populated country in the world.
Nigeria had a population of 45 million people when it gained independence in 1960. Britain who colonized Nigeria had 52 million. Today, Nigeria’s population is 211 million, Britain’s is 68 million. Nigeria's population increased by 116 million in 60 years, while Britain's population increased by only 16 million. If we put this into a percentage, Nigeria's population has grown by 369 percent in 60 years whereas Britain's has grown by only 30 percent.
