Hidden Scars Founder Joel Floyd West lived the Rockstar Lifestyle and has the Scars to prove it! A needle incident in 2016 that nearly resulted in his right arm being amputated left a huge Scar on his arm that was later HIDDEN by a Tattoo that represents his Love for Music. JFW: "I don't shame anyone for their choices if they don't harm anyone else. I've faced consequences for my actions and hold no regrets."
Abusive Relationships, multiple sex partners, nights in jail, brushes with Death, and just about every illegal drug you can think of is all part of the life JFW lived and got out of his system at an early age. JFW: "I lived the Rockstar lifestyle before EARNING the title of Rockstar" Constantly moving, playing many roles in many short-lived bands and touring the States opening for Big Names in every City in every State, West gained experience and saw the Good, Bad, and the Ugly side of the Music Biz early on in his career. JFW: "I couldn't settle in one place, I STILL can't! I'm just lucky I lived to tell the story!"
Today, West indeed has a lot of Scars, internal and external. JFW: "I formed (HS) as a Project to carve my skills as an Artist and send an important message to anyone who may be reluctant to see their Dark Side and Face Their Demons".
HS’ songs cover Depression, Suicide, and Abuse (West was jailed on False Domestic Charges). JFW: "I never really thought it would turn into a real band when I manifested the idea but people connected to the music, and before you know I was headlining the House of Blues with a full band for a packed show at The House Of Blues for our Debut, and AGAIN for our 1 Year!".
West continues to reinforce HS' message by circulating petitions for just causes (like creating penalties for False Domestic claims), focusing on his own Health and working in his very own Recording Studio as a self-produced Artist. JFW: "I continue to learn and grow every day. I had my time with drugs and partying and it was GREAT, HAHA! It was also F*cked up! I wouldn't change a thing, but it's time to reach HIGHER."
West prides himself as sort of a spokeman for Mental Health (naming Music as his Therapy) and for Men in Abusive Relationships. JFW: "It's VERY difficult for a man to admit he's an abuse victim. We've been brainwashed by Society to portray this Macho-Man stereo-type but the truth is Abuse is Abuse." He urges his listeners to NEVER be ashamed of the Hurt within them, to face and DEFEAT their Inner Demons through Art and Self-Expression, and to Reveal their Hidden Scars to the World.
