My Casio CA53W-1 Calculator Watch. The instantly recognizable Casio calculator watch is a favorite in my collection and instantly recognizable from its debut as the quintessential gadget of 1980s sci-fi cinema. Here’s what it’s like to own. The CA53W-1 is super-comfy. It weigh it at just 0.8 ounces, and that’s distributed over quite a wide strap—7/8 of an inch near the lugs, tapering down to around 3/4 of an inch, so it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a watch at all. See how it wears on my seven-inch wrist. With the ventilation on the strap I find it less sweaty than other resin band watch straps. It’s got a very clear display, which is a big benefit over some of the newer models that have the negative display. The watches featured were purchased at my own full cost.
