James Bailey farms sheep and cattle on family land near Tirau and he takes a landscape approach to sustainable farm development, aligning farming goals and profitability with land capability, protection of native bush and water quality. James also represented drystock farmers on the Collaborative Stakeholder Group helping develop the proposed Healthy Rivers Waikato Regional Plan Change and believes there are a few changes needed to achieve the Vision and Strategy and sustainable farming. The development of this video was partially funded by Waikato Regional Council to support other farmers to protect biodiversity and farm sustainably.
