HOW I COUNT THE YARDNESS OF YARN IN A PRODUCT:
1) If you decide to knit from one type of yarn in several folds, then there is nothing complicated. You need to divide the yardage of yarn by the required number of folds and get a new yardage. In other words: you decided to knit a sweater from yarn 1200 meters per 100 grams in 6 folds. So, you need to take 1200:6 = 200.
200 meters per 100 grams is the new footage of yarn
2) If you decide to knit from two or more types of different yarn, then the footage of yarn can be calculated using the formula M = (M1 * M2) / (M1 + M2) where
M1 footage of the first yarn per 100 grams
M2 footage of the second yarn per 100 grams,
M is the final footage of yarn.
If you decide to knit from three or more types of yarn, then you first need to calculate the total footage of the two types of yarn, and the second time calculate the resulting footage and the footage of the third yarn.
