When his eldest daughter married the commoner born General of the Royal Army without his consent, King Sethei declared his youngest daughter, Selene as his successor. Whatever love the sisters bore to each other grew into pure hatred, though many speculate there was not much love, to begin with for the King had always pitted his two daughters against each other.
Nefret and Rhademes seized the throne before Selene and because she was adored by the people of Bauschlyn, the Princess was kept as their royal prisoner.
King Rhademes who grew more power hungry, proceeded on to declare himself a living god and ordered all the temples of the Mother Goddess destroyed. History states that the Royal House of Vidaurri was sired by the Mother Goddess and having her image and temples taken down was an insult to his wife, Queen Nefret who was a devoted patron of the Old Religion.
The King had grown impatient with his barren Queen and declared he will also marry Princess Selene to further his royal line but the marriage would never take place. Queen Nefret stabbed her husband the King in the chest and turned the knife on herself, slicing her own throat open from bone to bone.
The youngest daughter of Sethei IV was declared Queen of Bauschlyn, and in the five years of her reign, she restored the Old Religion. When King Midas from the Kingdom of Reincoster came to conquer Baushlyn with 5,000 men at his back, Selene married the Conqueror to spare her people from the war on the only condition that they could revere the Mother Goddess freely. Selene, the last remaining Vidaurri would go on to give birth to the Royal Bellemore dynasty and her son, King Rosen and his descendants would continue to worship the Mother Goddess for generations.
