Staffordshire Celebrates New Poets Laureate
Staffordshire has proudly appointed two new Poets Laureate at a special inauguration event held this week at Stafford library on National Poetry Day (3 October 2024).
Scarlett Ward is the new Staffordshire Poet Laureate, while Harry Fletcher takes on the role of Young Poet Laureate.
Scarlett, a poet from Stafford, aims to "bring poetry into the spotlight" across the community. Meanwhile, Harry, an aspiring journalist from Perton, looks forward to inspiring young writers and promoting poetry across the county.
Outgoing Poets Laureate Dawn Jutton and Trinity Davis welcomed them into their new roles, expressing excitement for their time ahead as the new Staffordshire Poets Laureate and the continued celebration of poetry in Staffordshire.
