In January 2021, the Philharmonia Orchestra announced the multidisciplinary arts collective House of Absolute as their first Artist in Residence. Taking place during the uncertainty of the global pandemic, the residency saw House of Absolute work with Philharmonia musicians to devise an original score, which would be the setting for a new screendance work, ‘Secrets of the Treaties’.
This film is a behind-the-scenes look at how the elements of the score came together, through open collaboration and generous exchange between artists from different specialisms.
The Philharmonia Orchestra's Artist in Residence programme has been introduced to tackle some of the barriers for those who lack opportunities to access classical music. We believe this can be achieved by appointing an Artist in Residence from an art form outside the classical music world who explores and celebrates the fusion between the two worlds.
