Jaripeo (bullfighting) in the state of Michoacan, Mexico, is a very old tradition and takes place on most community patron saint festivals. This activity is family-friendly, as children of all ages, accompanied by their parents, even senior citizens, attend. In fact, the festivities and their rodeos are highly anticipated dates, since in most communities, they are held only once a year in their town or ranch.
Jaripeo today is a blend of Mexican charreadas and American rodeo, resulting in the Jaripeo Ranchero. All the riders, foremen, and other participants are trained for this activity, and under no circumstances is it advisable to imitate the acts performed by these professionals.
