Intro to HGA: Importing Data using the Data Transfer System
This video introduces the general import process through the Data Transfer System (DTS). The DTS allows you to import a number of different data formats using a variety of methods. In this video we focus on the ‘General’ import process, which can be used to import data from Microsoft Excel (.XLS, .XLSX), text (.TXT) or Microsoft Access database (.MDB, .ACCDB) files. The entire import process is covered, from:
• Selecting the data type and source file
• Mapping source data to the appropriate database tables/fields
• Selecting the coordinate/projection system
• Saving import settings for to reuse at a later date
