Indirect Tensile Strength test on asphalt mixture sample at -20 degrees C from the Asphalt Institute Laboratory. The peak strength was about 10,000 lbs. You can even see that the aggregates are split after the test meaning that the asphalt binder is strong enough to hold the aggregates and cause them to crack.
