The idea that spacetime emerges from entanglement is well established, but mostly in the codimension-2, bipartite regime: codimension-2 extremal surfaces emerge from bipartite entanglement in the boundary theory. In the context of AdS3 holography, Jonathan Sorce (Stanford) presents a new bound on an entanglement quantity called the Markov gap in terms of codimension-3 features of the bulk spacetime. Using ideas from quantum information theory, Jonathan then argues that this bound suggests that these codimension-3 features emerge from tripartite patterns of boundary entanglement.
The Virtual Seminar Series “GQFI-Ghent University-Warsaw String Theory” (GQFI-UGent-WST) is a joint initiative between the strings/holography groups at the Albert Einstein Institute (AEI) in Potsdam, Ghent University and the University Warsaw.
