Gauged gaussian fermionic PEPS form a class of PEPS suitable for studying lattice gauge theories. Using these states, one can construct tensor network states describing fermionic matter coupled to dynamical gauge fields, with full gauge invariance, as well as perform efficient contractions and numerical computations, in arbitrary space dimensions, when combined with Monte-Carlo techniques (in a way that is sign-problem free). In this talk, Erez Zohar (Hebrew University of Jerusalem) introduces the states, their construction and analytical properties, then moves to some manifestation of their physical capabilities with toy models, and ends with a demonstration of their numerical power, by applying them for the variational study of the ground state of a Z3 lattice gauge theory in 2+1d.

The full title of the talk is: "Gauged gaussian fermionic PEPS - studying Hamiltonian LGTs in more than 1+1d using tensor networks and Monte-Carlo".

This seminar is part of an online series on Tensor Networks in High Energy Physics (HEP-TN). For more details, and schedule of upcoming talks, visit: www.heptnseminar.org.

This talk was recorded on December 9, 2021 at the Albert Einstein Institute in Potsdam-Golm.
