This project was a collaboration between University of Michgan's ArcPrep program and the desing studio at Cornell : Foregrounding Background: Perceptions, Identities, Space
Foregrounding Background: Perceptions, Identities, Space is a traveling studio to Detroit which ran parallel to the Fall Mellon Design Justice Workshop. The Cornell students designed objects/installations for Detroit sites that they experienced with the ArcPrep students on their week-long field trip. ArcPrep students are redesigning the site of Fisher Body 21. The goal is to design a mixed-use building, one of the programs being an art gallery and the Cornell students have (virtually) inserted their projects in the galleries. This was the first time that we saw the projects united.
