I “Chased” D&RG #168 & #425, first time double heading the 4% grade up Cumbres Pass pulling a string of cars on a historic test run 7/28/21. Part 2 opens with the water stop and departure at Cresco tank. Next I catch the arrival at Cumbres Pass, engine #168 taking water, leaving #425 and caboose and departing. I chase #168 to the Los Pinos crossing. Next I chased the #425 caboose hop to Chama.    • D&RG #425 "Caboose Hop" 7/28/21
Part 1 included the Chama departure, the narrows, Laboto Lake, Laboto trestle, second Highway crossing and ends at Cresco water tank.
Recently restored #168, a class T-12, 4-6-0 “Ten Wheeler” narrow-gauge locomotive built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1883 was a familiar passenger locomotive on the Santa Fe Branch until abandonment in the mid 30’s. Visiting D&RGW #315, a class "C-18" 2-8-0 "Consolidation" built by BLW in 1895 was lettered D&RG #425, to look like it did shortly after it was purchased from the F&CC.
