In the fifth lesson of #technical #mentorship - "Chemical Processes & Introduction to Mass Balance" were discussed, now, one more practical question will be solved to strengthen understanding in mass balances.
The feed to a continuous distillation column comprises 50 mol% butane, 30 mol% pentane and 20 mole% hexane. The distillate (top) product, which accounts for 55 mol% of the feed contains 90 mol% butane. The bottom product contains 42 mol% hexane. Find the mol% of the two product streams.
Basis: 100 kmol of feed entering the #distillation column.
