Okay, so the next visualization I have for you is actually a "race simulation" if you'd like to call it that way. Starting from the attribute of speed, I made a little spreadsheet and with the data that I collected online, I had a list starting from the fastest animal all the way to the slowest animal. Somewhere in between, there was Usain Bolt.
How to animate the slowest and fastest animal?
Okay, so if you didn't get the video, basically what I did is started with a 100 meters long race track (mainly because it's a popular, short running distance). Then, I placed the animals at the bottom and the finish line at the top. Starting from the fastest animal all the way down to the slowest one, I wanted a really nice curve of motion along the screen. Of course, they all start at the same time, but once an animal finishes the race, they just do a lap and start the race all over again.
It's not exactly the style of animations I was used to. This was more technical and I was developing the video as I was creating the project. This is the 3rd video I did and they all went the same. The idea I started with wasn't the video I finished with. And, of course, what struck me the most is the fact that as I am doing these videos, I am learning that I know nothing about After Effects. But on the other hand, I learned more animation today than in the past 3 months, even if it didn't pay out. Eventually, it will.
So what is the fastest animal on land?
Like I said, it's the cheetah, but you obviously don't listen. Instead, have a look at the video and see how the fastest animal is many times faster than others. Yaaaay! Fastness! I couldn't make it 2 hours long, so I just waited for the House Spider to finish the race. Enjoy!
