Intermediate Arabic Listening: Making Jam and Fruit Picking.
Transcript:
قَرَّرتُ أنْ أَصنَعَ مُرَبى البَرقوق
I decided to make plum jam
فأنا أَعشَقُ دَهنَهُ على خُبز التوست الساخِن المَدهون بالزُبدة
because I love its spread on hot buttered toast
والآن هو مَوسِم البَرقوق
and now it is plum season
وأَغصان الأَشجار تَزخَرُ بالثِمار الناضِجة
and the tree branches are bursting with ripe fruit
جَهَّزتُ سُلَمى ودِلائي
I prepared my ladder and my buckets
واِنطَلَقتُ لقَطف البَرقوق
and set off to pick the plums
كانَت أَشجار البَرقوق تَغَصُّ بكَمية هائِلة من الثِمار الناضِجة
the plum trees were bursting with a huge amount of ripe fruit
حَتى أَنني لم أَعرِفْ من أَينَ أَبدَأُ
so much that I didnt know where to start
تَسَلَّقتُ سُلَمي
I climbed my ladder
وهو بالمُناسَبة سُلَم مُهتَز ومُتهالِك
which by the way was shaky and worn out
لِذا من الضَروري أنْ يُمسِكَ به شَخص آخر أثناء القَطف
so it was necessary for someone else to hold it while I picked
بَدَأتُ أَقطِفُ الثِمار بجَد
I began picking the fruit seriously
وجَمَعتُ أَكبَر قَدر مُمكِن منها
and gathered as much as I could
ووَضَعتهُا في دِلائي حتى اِمتَلأَت
and put it in my buckets until they were full
وحَين لم أَعُدْ أَستَطيعُ حَمل المَزيد
when I could no longer carry any more
نَزَلتُ عن السُلَم
I came down from the ladder
وحَمَلتُ الدِلاء المُتخَمة بالبَرقوق إلى صُندوق سياَرتي
and carried the buckets full of plums to the trunk of my car
واِنطِلقتُ عائِدا إلى المَنزل
then set off back home
مُستَعِداً لصَنع المُرَبى
ready to make the jam
