At Department III of the Berliner Hochschule für Technik, in the laboratory for geomedia, we have a HyperGlobe from the company Globoccess. Details: https://labor.bht-berlin.de/gem/proje...

The HyperGlobe OmniGlobe allows not only static maps to be displayed, but also map animations. QGIS and many other programmes can output such dynamic representations as a sequence of images in the correct projection. However, if we only have a video in an unsuitable projection for the globe, we have to georeference the video, re-project it and pass it to the globe.

This video deals with explaining this process using the example of Ollie Bye's "United Nations and League of Nations" (   • United Nations and League of Nations  ). We primarily use QGIS and several smaller programmes. In the end we get the image sequence of a map animation, tailored to the dimensions of the earth, supplemented by missing regions (South Pole) and in exactly the right size for the globe.

While the video has a German soundtrack, the instructions in text form (with a different example) can be followed in English here: https://studiengang.bht-berlin.de/fil...
