The Mt. Pleasant Riots: From El Salvador to Washington D.C.
In the late 1970s a Civil War in El Salvador sent hundreds of thousands of refugees to the Texas border. Many settled in Washington D.C. but found discrimination followed them at every turn. With no recourse for political solutions, the biggest riot since 1968 ensued
