Hanover is a borough in York county Pennsylvania, 19 miles southwest of York,and 54 miles away from Baltimore Maryland.
It’s home to several snack food companies, like Snyder’s of Hanover, Utz Quality Foods, and several others in neighboring towns, such as Hershey’s and Herr’s. When you drive through the main square, don’t forget to take a look at the historic monument there. The memorial was erected in 1904 in remembrance of The Battle of Hanover, which was a prelude to the battle of Gettysburg. It is believed that Hanover saved the fate of the nation, so Hanover is a pretty big deal!
After taking in the historical sights, you might find yourself hungry. Thankfully, Hanover is home to one place that has food so good, people drive in from other states for a bite. Pretzel pizza cafe has an entire menu based off of fresh made pretzel products, including pizza, wraps, sandwiches, and pretzel dogs. Their most popular items are anything crab-related. Pizza, wraps, sandwiches; if there’s crab on it, it’s a favorite. If you’re still hungry after devouring their delicious pretzel options, make sure you give their incredible milkshakes a try! They’re topped with candy and ice cream, and people drive for hours to get their hands on them.
For breakfast and lunch, make sure you stop in at Firehouse Grill. Their most popular meal is breakfast. The locals love their home fries and onions, and the Firehouse Omelet. Enjoy their homemade soups and desserts, all with a firehouse vibe.
Just up the road in Littlestown is Ma’s general store. She sells all kinds of products, such as antiques, braided rugs, moccasins, candles, coffee, and food. The building is an old barn, built in the late 1800s, and has maintained much of its original features. Come on down to Ma’s General Store so you can enjoy the nostalgia!
And finally, one of our favorite stops in Hanover has got to be a cute little shop that features plant-based gifts! The Succulent Hippie is home to a beautiful variety of plants, including plant-related gifts and accessories. You can learn everything there is to know about plants, and test out your new plant expertise by taking one home to care for!
