The Parable of the Bridesmaids, Wise While We Wait, Matthew 25:1-13
Jesus and his Kingdom are coming and while we wait, we need to be wise. That is what the parable of the Bridesmaids is about. We often make this parable out to be about salvation but the distinction that Jesus makes between the two groups of bridesmaids is that one group was wise and the other one was not. Wisdom is knowing what to do given our circumstances. We are waiting for the kingdom and its king to arrive and while we do so, like the wise bridesmaids who were able to keep their lamps on, we need to be wise and figure out how to keep the light of the kingdom on.
