Safe Cities | Mine Action Promotes SDGs
During conflict, cities and towns are often targets for attacks. Homes and commercial centres are reduced to rubble, and millions are displaced. In post-conflict environments, mine action is the first step toward rebuilding sustainable cities and communities.
Established in 1997, the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) leads, coordinates and implements activities to mitigate the threat posed by mines, explosive remnants of war and improvised explosive devices.
