I fished a little with new closed face spinning reels, one of the typical on-top-of the rod and one not so typical, under the rod. The latter is a trigger-spin Zebco 33. The reel that sat on top of the rod felt unbalanced because it sat too high. The under-the-rod, Zebco 33 triggerspin was nicely balanced and the retrieve motion was nice and smooth. This would make a nice panfish outfit. I cast light lipless and a Senko easily and tangle free.
I switched to a traditional baitcasting reel, left hand model, and cast some heavier lipless baits. It performed as I was accustomed.
None of these outfits produced a fish, however.
It was a gorgeous day and I enjoyed being on the water and testing my new Gopro cameras: Black 6 and Black 7.
