The defendant was found guilty of sexually assaulting a mentally disabled 19-year-old girl. However, errors were made during the trial, including not requiring the State to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant knew the victim was mentally disabled and not allowing the defense to cross-examine the victim and a psychologist about the victim's use of birth control pills. The court ordered a new trial.
