For Justyna and Łukasz, October means a flurry of work. For Łukasz, it's the season of field work. For Justyna, it's the time when calves are born.

"I don't sleep much, I don't have any free time," says a tired but smiling Justyna Maciorowska.
The farmers, however, are experiencing a veritable baby boom. Calves are being born in the meadows and barn at such a pace that the farmers can't keep up with preparing their calf hutches.
Increasingly mild winters allow calves to be raised outdoors in specially designed hutches. This is called cold rearing. Calves live in these hutches for three months. We accompany Justyna as she prepares the calf housing. The hutch needs to be washed and disinfected, and the area for the hutch needs to be prepared with a dry lime disinfectant.
