The Narkomfin Building is one of the most striking architectural landmarks of the Soviet avant-garde. It consists of residential units—compact two-level apartments. A dormitory was built on the flat, walkable roof, along with the first Soviet "penthouse," which belonged to People's Commissar of Finance Nikolai Milyutin. Today, the development company Liga Prav LLC is conducting a scientific restoration of the Narkomfin Building. This video tour will take you on an imaginary journey back to the late 1920s, when the building was still under construction.
Guide: Sergey Kuznetsov, architectural historian and tour guide for the "Moscow Through the Eyes of an Engineer" project. This tour was recorded with the support of the Tourism Committee as part of the #MoscowWithYou campaign.
