During the Cold War in the 1960s, numerous political events changed the fates of many people.
Several students sent by the Indonesian government to study in the Soviet Union (Russia) and China were ultimately unable to return to Indonesia after the events of 1965.
Stranded and traveling across various countries without status, they searched for a country that would take them in.
They lost contact with their families in Indonesia, who were also victims of the political changes.
Their stories and those of others tell of an undying desire to find a way home.
They represent thousands of people who share the same fate and have fallen everywhere.
They are living monuments of violence, enduring, and being passed down.
These monuments of violence are passed down in the form of fears stored in the minds, hearts, and instincts of generations.
Like giant chains that bind the hands, feet, and minds of the generations that come after them.
If they seek a way home, the next generation seeks a path to freedom.
